Achaemenid carved stone bear pendant, circa 300 - 500 BC, on a handmade gold, turquoise and kumihimo silk necklace.

A rare survival from the Achaemenid Empire, this finely carved bear’s head in red stone dates from the 4th–5th century BC. A natural crystalline fissure runs like lightning through the muzzle, eye and teeth.

In ancient Persia, animal imagery was rich with symbolic meaning. The bear, a figure of strength and guardianship, was often invoked as a protector. Worn as ornament, it likely expressed personal identity.

Xirs is presented in a 14ct gold setting and accented with a cabochon of natural turquoise.  The cord is hand-braided kumihimo silk, finished with a custom gold clasp.
