This one-of-a-kind pendant features a beautifully aged Roman miniature sculpture, dating to the 2nd century AD. Cast in bronze, carved and then set with enamel, the piece portrays a classical comic theatre mask — a motif rich in cultural significance and subtle social commentary in the Roman world.
In Roman society, comedy was both entertainment and veiled dissent — the sanctioned space where humour offered a mirror to power. Such ornaments may have served not only as a token of good fortune but as a quietly subversive emblem. The artefact is set on a 14-carat gold pendant and chain, both handmade.
